Love Food, Hate Waste! Food Waste Challenges.
Interview with Jamie Crummie, Too Good To Go
Too Good To Go Co-Founder Jamie Crummie addresses the initial challenges of getting partners on board of the platform.
Too Good To Go collaborates with different types of food providers like restaurant owners, bakeries, markets stalls, hotels, and supermarkets.
Getting partners on board before the app launched was not easy. Too Good To Go was a novel and new concept, inviting the hospitality industry to treat food and food waste differently. Potential partners may feel that the amount of surplus food they have in the business is too low to warrant the use of a technological platform.
The hospitality industry was used to wasting food and writing it off as part of their business model. Changing attitudes required people to realize that the food wasted was perfectly good to eat, it had cost money to make, and throwing it away was an environmental and moral challenge. The change in mindset makes it a no-brainer for partners to join the platform and more importantly join the movement to reduce food waste.
