Sustainability in London – Live Global and Go Local

When we spoke to Samantha Heath in January of 2019 she had been the Director of the London Sustainability Exchanges (LSx) since 2005 and an outspoken voice about sustainability and climate change in the capital.

We spoke to Samantha about sustainability in the city and how the LSx operates on a local level.

LSx has worked with 300 communities across London, from youth groups, to trade unions, to faith groups and local charities. Training champions and ambassadors for sustainability within the communities has been one of the key elements of the process.

Electric Highways - rethinking long distance heavy transport

To power electric trucks across long distances engineers are taking another look at a century old solution: Stringing electrical cables over the road.
Scania and Siemens have trialed the technology in Sweden and Germany and are now in agreement with the A35 Austostrada in Italy to build the first six chilometres of electric highway between Romano di Lombardia and Calcio.

Cross River Partnership is a public private partnership of local businesses and local government authorities. As a business engagement officer it is my job to go out there, talk to businesses and encourage them to take sustainable actions,  to incorporate them into their business practices, basically to help make central London a better space for everyone.
