B U R E O - From fishnet to skateboard

Launched by three friends (Ben, David, Kevin), @bureo was founded through a deep connection with the ocean environment. Becoming aware of the various threats to our waterways, they made it their mission to do something about ocean plastics.

After months of speaking with experts and investigating plastic pollutants in our oceans, they were struck by the large scale and harmful impact of fishnet waste. The research showed that this material was incredibly strong to make skateboards from and highly recyclable! 

Beiing given an amazing opportunity to bring the idea to Chile, where they could run the whole process from fishnet collection in the coastal communities to final production in Santiago. They began work last year, establishing 'Net Positiva', our fishnet collection and recycling program. Having raised $64,554 on @kickstarter the boards are now available on their website https://bureo.co/.
